And Spliff, if you do a Spliffy, I'm gonna Splaff you!
I hear this all the time. I've read that male teachers shouldn't develop "skinship" with girl students. Is "skinship" only related to kids?
Does it exist in the adult world? Does it have sexual connotations? Always? Some of the time?
Anyone really know? |

Skinship is a great coinage.
I take it to mean casual intimacy between parent & child, boyfriend & girlfriend, or just friends. Where touch conveys fondness with a trusted other. |

Actually, the Urban Dictionary is wrong in this case. "Skinship" is of Japanese derivation.
The Koreans borrowed it and turned it into a euphemism to mean almost anything sexual they want depending on the situation.
The original Japanese meaning is touching between a mom and her baby. |

Is skinship ever used for parent and child?? I've never heard it used that way, but I don't really ever hang out with children. Or parents.
I thought it just meant getting physical in a relationship, anywhere from kissing to f*cking. So thinking of it between parent and child weirds me out. |

Allow me to reiterate. Skinship is a 50 or 60 year old Japlish term that originally had no sexual meaning. The Koreans adopted it and in the last 10 or 15 years it has taken on a primarily sexual meaning amongst younger Koreans. It stands to reason that when the Koreans first imported it it referred to the mother-offspring relationship. Koreans use it today as a sexual euphemism because the Korean language itself is somewhat lacking in modern sexual slang terminology. |

Skinship in a sexual manner= anything between holding hands and dry humping or heavy making out. It stops short of penetration, I guess.
It's never been made clear to me if skinship has any non-sexual meaning.
Is that situation where 2 school girls are holding hands or the guy is sitting on his friend's lap on the subway or the boys or girls grooming their same-sex friends in class considered "skinship" as well? |

Not always true.

Yes, it has. Twice, actually.

I'm pretty sure that when there is penetration, it stops being "skinship" and starts being what they call "sexsuh"! |

I guess it depends on if the woman feels the penetration. |

Skinship implies a romantic or perverted gesture (lol). It's weird and wrong to use it explaining innocent hugging between school children. |
