|
|
I've heard several things here and I'm totally confused.
I want to switch jobs.
My contract doesn't expire until June 30th, but it sucks ass here, and I can't handle another 4 months in this dump.
I can get my letter of release.
I have sealed transcripts with me now.
I have an original diploma now.
I have my FBI finger prints in the works, and should be here within a few weeks.
I know I CAN'T transfer my visa from one place to another.
Here is my question:
Since I have NOT done 3/4 of my contract, will I HAVE to return home to the USA before applying for another visa? If I have all the paperwork here, will I be able to switch without returning home? |

you'll need to leave the country, whether that means home or another country is unclear to me.
and, you can transfer your visa, assuming your current employer is willing to do it.. |

To the OP: Are you currently on your first E-2 visa? Or have you previously completed a full year (or more) of teaching in Korea?
If you haven't completed a full contract term on a E-2 (i.e., 1 year), you may not be permitted to make a visa run.
Another current thread is addressing this topic: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=113922 |

I've been in Korea more than a year. I did 10 months at one job, a summer-camp, and 8 months at this job. |

I just recently changed jobs... and transfered/extended my current visa with one employer to different employer.
Keep in mind you can only do this before March 15 so you better start moving fast.
1) First find a new job.
2) Get a letter of release from your current employer.
3) Let your new employer arrange the paper work and whatnot.
I did not need a police check, medical check, or transcripts to do this. I didn't even bring in my original degree.
Again... this is only before March 15th.
Good luck. |
