|
|
| Hello! I am moving to Seoul in all of 3 days. I just bought a Vonage setup and was going to do as a friend did in Costa Rica, and have a US phone number in Korea to call back home. After just checking online to see what the deal is about using Vonage in Korea, I've come across about 50 internet posts saying about 50 different things regarding bans by South Korea, and protests by the US military, etc, etc. So what is the real deal?? Can I or can't I use it while I'm there (given I get it 100% set up while I'm still in the states)? Any thoughts would be great so I can return the thing (and be disappointed) before I take off. Thanks! |

| Um, I'm not sure if I have a definitive answer but it might help. We have a vonage in our korean apartment, that my husband had from waaaaaaay before we met. He's in the army but the phone obviously doesn't have to be on base to work (like I previously thought), so you might be in luck. I say bring it over, and hope for the best |

| You don't need to be in the military to use vonage. I, along with several non-military friends, use our vonage phones in Korea with no problems. |

Can you buy SkypeIN Korean numbers?
I read posts about Korea blocking Skype for a while (telecom companies wielding regulatory power to keep competition out), but I believe they let it in. However, I don't know if you have to be a Korean citizen to buy the number. |
