why does my public school want me to reserve a one-way ticket,
when a round trip ticket is actually cheaper? do I have to reserve the one-way?
if I end up not finishing my contract, I'd have to pay more to the school w/the one-way ticket. is this their subtle way to prevent ppl from quitting early? |

Well, if you were a school, would you want your new teacher sitting on a return ticket, able to use it at any time? You could phone up the airline, change the date and get a new ticket pretty easily. Starting a contract thinking, "What if I want to break my contract before 6 months" probably isn't the best way to start a working relationship, either. It isn't the job of your employer to minimize the cost to you if you break the contract.
Plus, Koreans aren't know for their forward thinking. A year in the future might as well be a million years. They'll deal with it when the time comes. Probably the day before. |

If you buy a one way ticket to arrive in Korea you get reimbursed the full cost of what ever the best economy fare actually cost you
If you buy and fly on a return ticket you only get reimbursed 50% of the cost of the return ticket when you arrive and at the end of the contract you get the other 50% paid out. NOT ANOTHER TICKET.
With a return ticket to start with you have very little choice at the end of your contract but to use up the unused part of your ticket or cash it in for a very poor 'cash in rate' or throw it away as it might not be able to be changed with the dates and times etc. |
