I read that article. At no point did it say that vaccinations cause autism. The child had a pre existing medical condition which they say may have been aggravated by vaccinations. This is obvious a serious worry however.
Also the conspiracy kooks say(in general this is the claim) that mercury in the vaccinations causes autism. That is a very specific claim which is not backed up by this article.
The article states that 0.2% of the population has this precondition and that up to 20% of autistic childrem have this precondition. There must be away to work around something so rare that these vaccinations can continue. It also doesn't explain the remaining 80% of cases. In the end something that needs more study, but hardly a link between mercury in vaccines and autism. |

Indeed. There is zero evidence to link vaccines and autism. There are risks with all vaccines. The government has a compensation fund and awards money to the rare people that are affected by these rare complications. The fund did not pay the award for autism.
And David Kirby is quack. He championed the mercury link for years and then backed off that when the overwhelming evidence argued against him.

Read the board's actual ruling:
In sum, DVIC has concluded that the facts of this case meet the statutory criteria for demonstrating that the vaccinations CHILD received on July 19, 2000, significantly aggravated an underlying mitochondrial disorder, which predisposed her to deficits in cellular energy metabolism, and manifested as a regressive encephalopathy with features of autism spectrum disorder. Therefore, respondent recommends that compensation be awarded to petitioners in accordance with 42 U.S.C. 300aa-11(c)(1)(C)(ii). |
