So far there have been topics on the best and the worst movies (I challenge anyone to find a worse movie than "I Spit On your Grave"), but what about movies that passed under the radar, but impressed you?
One of my favorite films of all time is "Secrets and Lies" by the incomparable Mike Leigh. I don't think there is a false word or emotion in the whole movie, and Timothy Spalls scene where he explains the title of the film, is unbelivable. British realist cinema at it's finest.
Or, Master and Commander by Peter Weir. IMO, one of the finest action/period movies of all time. |

I really like 'Robot Monster' and '32 Short Films About Glenn Gould.' Certainly not to everyone's taste, but indisputably among the finest of their types. |
