|

Hi.
My ps just asked if I'd like to renew when my contract expires at the end of May. I said that's fine with me as long as they give me better housing for the 2nd year. Like, at least a 2-room place. They said OK.
But there is another provision in the current contract that I never understood the rationale for, so I thought I'd see if anyone on this board knows anything about this.
It says that when I re-sign and complete the old contract that I will be given a round-trip ticket to my home country for an additional 2-week vacation (or cash if I prefer not to travel). And the amount is less than 75% of Korean Air economy class price.
So, this is the part I don't understand the reasoning of: less than 75% of Korean Air economy class price.
I am currently completing the remaining 7 months of a one year contract of a runner, but I doubt that figures into this 75% number in any way.
Any of you have any experience with this 75% number in your contracts?
Thanks. |

The regular KAL ticket price is usually vey high.
When you book with KAL you get a discounted rate.
If you book with Delta it's less, much less.
I don't know about Singapore or BA?
My contract just states closest airport.
I've heard from others that they ae limiting the ticket to 1Mw each way
by "Policy" (outside the contract), but I imagine tha tif they paid for your
ticket over in full they should match the return and expect an increase.
I'm expecting my Re-imbursement for my Re-signing R/T home leave
ticket next month, I'll let you know how that goes.

So, is this 75% figure something that you've seen (or heard about) before in contracts then? |

Yes. It's standard in many contracts. KAL is used as a measure for comparison; you can often book on Asiana for about 75% of the cost of the same KAL flight, for instance. |

It's kinda like hotel "Rack Rates" versus the actual.
If they hold to this policy tell them you want them to show you the current
KAL Rates from here to home prior to booking. Or ask them to book your
ticket for you.
If you haven't signed yet, strike that phrase from the contract.
Then replace it with this.
"The round trip airfare for Employee's flight shall be based on an
economy class airfare of the most direct flight available." |

If your contract was for only 7 months, I would assume that your airfare has been prorated for that adjusted time. That's how I understand it. |
