If you must go to a Korean consulate in person to get a visa to teach in Korea, how far are you willing to travel at your own expense? |

Well considering that I wouldn't get a car just to spend a short time in America, I would ride a bus or train to Chicago from Missouri to get there, but that is such a head ache and time consuming. I sure hope I don't have to go through all that merigermerall. |

It's pretty sad that our home countries can't provide us with real jobs that people would even consider going through these new regulations. Yeah, I know, but not all of us can be math or science majors. It's pretty sad to see what people are getting all worked up over for basically 2 grand a month. |

I'd go no more than a 2-hour bus ride. For me, that's Toronto (if I were back home). However, I am NOT back home. There is no 2-hour bus from Daejeon to the nearest Korean Consulate. |

If I were to go from my parents home to the consulate in Houston it would be 511 miles. That will take me at least 8 hours to drive. It is an over night stay obviously. Not to mention the flight from Korea. I am figuring 3,000$ plus just for the visa alone.
Thank god I have an F visa. But I am sure my day is comming when the new visa regs will effect me as well. |

I drove 420 miles to get my visa in Atlanta...and of course I had to drive back too. So that trip was around 1000 miles with driving around Atlanta included and a stop over at my university in Chapel Hill to get some extra transcripts and requested to get extra diplomas at 25 dollars a pop. |

I drove from Greensboro to Atlanta. UNC-G grad '94.
Are you from NC?
I found the Atlanta consulate experience painless (in 06). Hand in the paperwork at 9:00 AM; pick up the visa at 3 PM. |

Yeah, I'm from Wilmington and graduated from UNC. The consulate experience was painless, just a pain to drive there. Nice to see others from good ole NC here ^^ |
