What's this? A seemingly reasonable starting price? Odd.

I'd be interested if I hadn't just bought a camera...

LOL! The price is reasonable because I mean business. Very Happy If you need to know, the money will be well spent in bringing down the price of Canon EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS USM lens goodness. It's a good walk-around lens for the price (840 000KRW => 540 000 KRW).

Some people have send me PM. Here's more information.

1) Unfortunately the box and USB cable that came with the camera is in Finland right now. If the USB cable is a must, I can find a replacement for you or give you Compact Flash PCMCIA adapter (can be used with laptops). I personally use a separate memory card reader so I have never used the cable.

2) The original instruction manual was in Japanese. English version can be downloaded from the PowerShot.com.

3) Because I live in Paju (10 KM north from Ilsan) I don't want to come south of the river. Places I can come quite easily with a few hours notice are:

- Ilsan Jeongbalsan Starbucks (line 3, La Festa shopping mall)
- Almost anywhere downtown (Gwanghwamun, City Hall, Myeongdong, Jongno etc.)

Update:

I'm sorry but I can't take more offers right now. I'm contacting the people who sent me PMs. I go through the messages in chronological order.

Thanks for everyone who showed interest at my offer!

i just bought the 17-55mm f/2.8 this past weekend. having IS gives me so much more confidence and i don't always have to carry my tripod around. i got the lens and a b+w polarizer for les than 1,000,000 won.

That's nice to hear. Makes me to feel a lot more secure at shelling all that money for a new glass. The reviews for that lens have been quite good, thou. Hey, you can't go wring with Canon, right? Razz

If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy yours and with what body you are using it?

One more thing. If the prospective buyer 1# won't make some decisions soon, you are next on the list. Are you still interested at my 350D? I even found the USB cable for it.

Happy shooting!

PS: Just picked 40D today... and I'm loving it!

Sent another PM, but it's not showing in my Sentbox.... Confused

If it's still available, I can definitely take it.

i got a 40d a few months ago with a 24-85mm the salesman convinced me to buy. i bought a prime 85 f/1.8 lens after doing some research. i wasn't happy with my 24-85mm and decided to buy the 17-55mm. i found out later that raw images give soft pictures so i think my impression of the 24-85mm might be a little harsh.

so far, i'm still figuring this camera out. put in some custom settings i found on a website and am still experimenting. the 40d, i believe, is a great camera. i used to have a 350d and returned it after looking at the pictures my friend took with a 20d.

i've been looking for a camera i'd feel more comfortable taking around the city until i figure this thing out. i saw your post and thought it was a great deal. if your buyer doesn't come through, i'm a sure thing. will love to chat about photography over coffee.

I hadn't even though about 24-85 as it isn't wide enough for me, but now I will steer away from it even more. My previous all around lens was EF-S 17-85mm IS and it was pretty good considering the price I paid for it.

Now that the 350d is sold, sorry reaction, I have only one lens in the house. Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM comes very handy when I want to take pictures of "our" four cats. Even though I have an external flash, I hardly use it as the lens is fast enough to stop almost any movement. If it only had IS... (See edit)

Anyway, the 17-55 f/2.8 IS is probably going to be my next lens. After that I think I have to save some money and get a decent zoom lens... and they are pricey! I'd love to have the 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM but I'm sure that my gf will not give me her approval. Razz

EDIT: As soon as I posted this, it struck me how useless IS would be on a f/1.4 prime lens. My deepest and most sincere apologies. That was a brain fart, nothing more.

i think you'll like the 17-55mm. to answer your question before, i bought it near namdaemun inside of a swapmeet type place with a bunch of vendors. the salesman told me they didn't carry many of them because people were more apt to spend their money on cheaper lenses. i can get you the guy's information if you'd like.

have fun with the 40d and the new lens!
