I can understand doing the background check via the FBI or whatever, but if you have a bad employer, you are at their mercy, or you must go home. Why can't they allow people already here who have bad employers to do visa runs, if they have already done the background check. Don't they have computers in Korea? Yes, they do! Can't they computers and organize the system? It is not hard to do. I am sure some university students in Korea can even do that. What's so hard about having a system that makes sense for both foreigners and Koreans?
The system right now is set up to punish many hard-working, good teachers as well. |

Yes, but it's an unintended consequence of the government's attempt to break private enterprises' stranglehold on English education. Ks aren't renouned for their foreward thinking and ability to plan in advance. |
