I've just realized during the 2 week contract renewal break, which will be in mid-April I will get:

1) roughly 2 million won as usual for my salary

2) roughly 2 million won for severance

3) 900,000 won for money paid as a housing deposit

4) airfare reimbursed both ways

Life's not too bad after all Cool

Reimbursement for airfare is about 70%. I renewed my contract and didn't take a vacation (I did a CELTA course instead). I got reimbursed 1,900,000 for my flight I opted not to take. Fromtheuk, yes, everyone gets severance, and you're more likely not to get swindled out of it if you're working somewhere that's not a private institute (e.g. hakwons). But, who knows exactly if you won't get swindled, and you never do until you get into situations where you deal with people and money. Something my father always said.

Check your contract. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you'll get your airfare reimbursement after you get back. Wink Think about it.

From memory, I believe airfare reimbursement is 100%, it was for the airfare when I first arrived in Korea.

Cruisemonkey - You're right about the refund being after I return to Korea. I was thinking of all of the benefits I'll receive, in totality. So, airfare reimbursement won't occur as soon as I get the 2 week break, but soon after that.

I'm with GEPIK.

Ever since the admin centre failed to pay me on time, I visit them on the 25th of every month, and they always pay on time now.

The woman there has a look on her face when I enter the room which says, 'Oh no!........here we go again' Confused

With GPOE, if you renew your contract, you receive full flight ticket money for a round trip visit to your home country if you actually actually take it. I opted not to use the round trip flight, and so I got about 70% or 75% of the full Korean Air round trip ticket cost. That's how it works, I think you're talking about another part of typical contracts or a completely different MOE.
