I signed an EPIK contract to teach in Busan, yesterday I received my E-2 visa. I was ready to fly over as soon as possible because supposedly public school starts March 3rd. However, when I contacted my recruiter I was informed that they do not want me to fly out yet. I was told that they had a group of 10 people coming over, and I was the first to obtain my visa. They want to wait until everyone has their visa and can all come at the same time for an orientation (around March 10th was her estimate).
Does this sound strange? Should I be worried? Does anybody know whats going on here? |

No, and no. One thing you will learn about Korea is that it's infamous for last minute.com Things change all the time and a change of dates is common and not the exception. I was in the past bewildered by this logic but now I don't give a monkeys. I've learned to live with it and don't take anything for granted, if it doesn't happen on the 3rd it will happen on the 10th or perhaps some time after. Enjoy your remaining time at home with friends and family and don't waste your energy levels on this. It will happen but it's a question of when!!!! Your good to go and your paperwork work is in order so enjoy.
P.s. bring some gravy with you and mint sauce!!!!!!!!! I would be more stressed about making sure I had this in my luggage.
Best of luck |

I was just talking to someone in a middle school who said the kids sit in with their previous grade's class for a week or two, killing time, and then they go up to the next grade... Could that be it? |

You'll most likely do a week long orientation program before teaching. You'll probably live at your apartment during that time, and maybe visit your school for a day before the training.
I wouldn't worry. |

apt??
the OP doesn't have an apt yet!! that's why they don't want him to come yet - there's no place for him/her to stay
don't worry tho - first week of school rarely has much going on - just hang tight - the jet lag only takes a couple of weeks to get over - |
