I want to go for a walk this weekend and maybe have a picnic weather permitting. Are there any nice areas in Central Seoul?

Do what the locals do. Find a stretch of concrete or bitumen, and there's your picnic location.
Concrete clean, grass dirty. |

Try JongMyo. It's an old shrine in central Seoul near Jongno 5 Ga. There are less buildings and more trees than the palaces. It's a lovely, quiet and peaceful place. Also, if you continue walking through the woods, across an overbridge and into ChangGyeong Palace, you can check out the large pond and a nice old greenhouse.

Well, according to the weekend weather forecast, Saturday would be the best bet for a picnic because there's 70% chance of rain and/or snow on Sunday (though the temperature should be mild...)
Yongsan Park is nice when the weather is nice - it's adjacent to the National Museum - Ichon station, light blue line #4, I think...)
I don't think they allow alcohol, though at any of the large parks - and not even at Seoul Racecourse Park (though lots of families picnic around the parking areas and even in the grandstands...) |
