Hi, was hoping for some help from some of the guys here who know more about computers than I do.
Basically the problem is that turning on Kazaa seems to completely kill the usability of my computer, in a way that it hasn't done on other computers I've used.
I have a Celron 2g, 256RAM - surely Kazaa shouldn't have this big an effect. Any ideas? Any of those "background programs" i can kill with little/no effect? Anyone know what svchost.exe is?
Cheers in advance. |

svchost.exe is a legitimate Windows program, but problems with it could be an indication that you have a virus or need to repair/re-install Windows. Coupled wtith a slow down of your computer, I would certainly make sure you had an up to date anti-virus software program and run a full scan. Don't use Kazaa, use Kazaalite. |

First, quit using kazaa, it sucks anyway....tons of virus and trojan horse programs along with mislabled music and videofiles. If you must use kazaa, download kazaalite, theres no spyware and hidden files running.
first search yahoo for BTHQ (which stands for Bit Torrent HeadQuarters) and select a site until you find a client program. Download it!!!!
the 4th hit in the search has the most clients.
now go to www.suprnova.org and select something to download. the client you just picked up will boot automatically. suprnova is a mirror site, so not all downloads are available from the first one, but just refresh and get a new mirror.
the site is a bit slow, but its 100% the real stuff and free to boot. Movies, games, apps, tv shows, check it out |

Kazaa kills the usability of your machine because its sharing a lot of stuff and downloading a lot of stuff (if you are downloading)
Now since Kazaa downloads and uploads from many sources. Its continually seeking on your hard drive for various bytes of a file. So your hard drive is in a constant state of flux which also screws with your virtual memory. (Thats just by using Kazaa lite).
Now Kazaa (the normal one) Thats even worse!! Because of the hidden goodies they package in with it. Yeah give it a flick. Get that bit torrent stuff ( I havent seen it) or get into DC++. I only use Kazaa for Mp3's or getting freaky Japanese porn! |
