Shark-fin soup trade threatens hammerheads

Not satisfied with torturing moon bears for their bile in the barbaric and primitive Chinese traditional medicine, now the Chinese want to wipe out Hammerhead sharks. Are there no depths too sickening for the Chinese to plumb?

Quote:
Dr Baum said that scientists would like to see a meaningful "ban" on shark finning, where the fins can only be taken from entire carcasses that are brought back to port. This would mean an end to fins being stripped from live sharks.

I heard that the cartilage of Chinese people is good for curing cancer. Maybe not, but if we spread it around maybe we'll bring some justice for those hammerheads.

Have you been to one of those herb/medicinal shops in China? They totally fetishize the powder that can be made from the bones of rare animals. Its like a status symbol wrapped into superstition.

How dare you insult the Chinese! Haven't you learned that you are never supposed to say anything negative about China? Anyone who does so is obviously trying to taint the image of China before the upcoming Olympic games.

You're post was purely political in nature.

I cant tell if youre being sarcastic, RACETRAITER, but folks are either with me or against me. People who do not ruthlessly criticize the Chinese and their barbarism silently c-o-n-s-e-n-t to all manner of filth and atrocity.

Heres how it is. In the West, the animals we eat we breed for the purpose. East Asians do not. They kill and kill and kill until theres nothing left to kill.

Pigs, cows, sheep, lambs and chickens are not gonna become extinct any time soon. Pork is the most popular meat on earth - whence is the pig endangerment? Sharks will be. And so will dolphins and whales mammoth achievements of Mother Nature. If you think an animal is really delicious and want to eat it, lets have an internationally cooperative system that sees these animals bred specifically for the purpose in relatively decent conditions. Theres nothing wrong with that.

It must be enforced. Japs keep on killing dolphins and whales? Impose economic sanctions. Buy Samsung, not Sony - invest in Korea. Chinese keep on killing sharks? Buy someone elses cheap footwear, toys, electronics.and rice. It all requires agreement to set up the systems I have in mind in order to rid the world of abomination.

And by golly, ESLCafe is the place to start!
