Where can I get one of these subway only smartcards? I've heard they are much cheaper than T-MONEY and work on a monthly system. And I never take the bus...

Never heard of it. T-Money saves you 100won on the subway and 50 on the bus. How much cheaper can it be (if it exists)?

BTW, does T-MONEY save you anything when you use it for taxis? I see some taxis equipped with the card readers, but have yet to pay my fare with one.

It exists. I have it in my hands (belongs to my GF). I think it's the one where you must tap at least 60 times per month to benefit from cheaper travel.

Here it is: http://blog.jinbo.net/yuy/?search_tag=%EC%A0%95%EA%B8%B0%EC%8A%B9%EC%B0%A8%EA%B6%8C

News to me, but then I haven't lived in Seoul for 2 years. Daejeon has their own card system, not compatible with Seoul's.

Just go to the ticket office and ask for a "Korea Smart Card" and hand them 40,000 won. It is good for 30 days or 60 trips on the subway. It saves me about 10,000 won per month.

Can it topped up? Or do I need to buy a new card every single month? It's called 정기 승차권카드 Smile Smartcard refers to all types of travel cards.

It is set at 60 times of usage or 30 days, whichever comes first. When the card is used up, you just give them the card and another 39,600won and they recharge the card.
