Wow, $4000 USD a month tax-free? Not bad! I went to the website. It's the homepage (which looks like it was made by a 6th grader for a class project) for a "hospital" in Nigeria. You gotta give these guys bonus points for creativity.

I saw another ad which was supposedly placed by the wife of a Mercedes company exec. About the same salary and I swear the dude's name was Volker, too....

This might be the place to tell a little story about another scam which I read about over in the Mexico forum. Apparently, some guy was advertising a very well-paid job working with some kids with disabilities. He said the kids had some speech problems, so they needed plenty of work on pronunciation.

During the phone interview, the guy said he wanted to give the applicants a better understanding of the kids' problems, so the applicant had to make all sorts of weird sounds, including choking and gagging sounds....

The one I saw a couple months ago was for a nanny type job (in Nigeria) so the kids could learn English.

Pay was somehow about the same. Shocked

Pretty much. They ask for money in advance. They'll say they need it to process the visa or something. If you pay that, they ask for more.

There are a grand total of 2 photos featuring black people. Every photo with a hospital background has a conspicuous absence of black people. Odd that.

The "background" link doesn't work at all, and the page is crowded with ads and pop-ups. What kind of hospital sells ads on three sides of their homepage?

We'll see how real it is.

I'm in Nigeria to meet some business contacts, and they took me out game hunting. We had a slight accident, and I thought I should check if you can patch up bullet holes, discreetly. He has three AK47 rounds in his lower abdomen, and is unconscious. Can we come to your hospital immediately?

Sincerely,

They are phishing for personal information. Especially from overseas workers such as efl teachers who won't know they've been scammed until it's too late. They use the information to obtain credit cards, bank accounts, tax credits and the like. Just filling out an application for one of these jobs gives them all the information they need to screw you over. And because you give them your home address back in the US,UK where ever, you won't know unless someone opens your mail or the police wake your mum up in the middle of the night.

Well, if it's possible for a whole country with a collective IQ less than 25 to concoct them, sure, why not?
