I'll keep it short.

I need to find a place to live, but I don't have key money. I have a housing allowance of 7-800,000 per month.

Questions:

1. What sort of place could I get?

2. Where is a good place to look (I work near Singeumho station on line 5 in Sindang - Itaewon is just down the road)?

3. Who's that real estate guy I've seen mentioned on here before who is supposed to be honest and reliable? Can someone post a link to his website?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you're in Seoul you shouldn't have trouble.

Outside of Seoul can be a very different story.

As to where you should look. That's another question altogether.

Two areas that I've seen real estate offices selling specifically to a foreign market have been Haebongchon (obviously) and the area in behind Ichon station.

Good luck.

Walk around Itaewon and go to the random small real estate places. A lot of the people in Itaewon will accept significantly less key money than elsewhere.

http://edenrealty.co.kr/ I got a place on this for 1,000,000 key and 450,000 a month, nice, clean, quiet. Walk around and check out the real estate offices, there are many around.

However for the really good well priced (monthly rent) apartments, you must put down key money. It's a real luck of the draw if you find a place without key money that is decent. Although it IS possible to get places in the 1-3 million key money mark.
