On Firefox Gmarket loads almost instantly. However, on IE7 it takes a really long time, I can hear my HDD grinding and even my CPU gets hot! It took the site 22secs to load up last time I tried. What the heck? This actually happens with a lot of the big Korean sites I use, like Danawa and Yahoo.co.kr

Unfortunately, because of activex, I can't use Firefox with Gmarket. Anybody have any ways to speed this up on IE7? I've got IE7pro loaded Core2Duo and 2GB RAM, but it doesn't seem to help.

Maybe I need Vista 64 bit? Very HappyRazz

Emailed their customer service section but of course the email address doesn't work.

First suggestion:

1. Get firefox
2. Get IE tab
3. Get adblock plus
4. ????
5. Profit!

That will fix the slowdown if it's due to slow internet and lots of ads, but 22 seconds sound like you might have other problems. Virus scan, defrag HD etc...

Well I went and disabled a bunch of the browser addons that were installed. It seems to be working better.

Can't use Firefox because the site needs activex for payment transactions, security programs, etc.

Edit: Actually much faster! Down to just a few seconds. I think IE7Pro might have been messing things up.

I've been on Gmarket forever, but not in the "English Shop". I use the Korean market area.

*sigh* Nearly the whole point of my suggestion was to show you how to run firefox and still use activex. I wouldn't answer without reading your post thoroughly; trust me more next time. Razz

I got it JustJohn. I tried the IEtab emulator before and it wouldn't work properly with all the junk the Korean sites throw at the browser. Thanks for the tip though. It's a great addon.

Gmarket is crap. Infact all Korean websites are utter and complete crap they are poorly designed and implemented. For such a wired country they have a bunch of ass hats running the web here.

@Mrs-You have to register on the Korean site. Registration on the English site will not work..period. Just memorize all the info you need & the order they appear. Registration is smooth on the Korean site.

I love gmarket, but I hate that it operates on IE. I usually browse for whatever it is I'm looking for on firefox first and then open IE when I want to purchase. It takes at least 5 minutes to load. Ridiculous...

signed up for Gmarket in English last week using IE7, copy/pasted item numbers from the korean website and ordered in English, no problems. What kind of trouble are you guys having? I got fed up with Auction making it almost impossible to order, but Gmarket seems pretty user friendly...
