My PDA froze up a couple of days ago and the only way I could get it functioning again was to do a hard reset (like formatting the hard drive of a computer). I've re-installed most of the software I used before but I can't find my copy of the 'Eoneo AnyDic' Korean-English dictionary software. Instead of buying it again, I thought I'd try to find a free Korean-English word list online somewhere to use with MDict (Mobile Dictionary). I've had no luck with Google searches, apart from one mini-list of ~5000 words, so I thought I'd ask if anyone on Dave's ESL knows where I could find a reasonable size word list. The word list can be in just about any file format. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

your in luck. i was in the process of converting the korean to english and quick english to korean stardict files to txt using MDX convert guide. I created an mdict mdx file while in the process. let me know if you have any problems with it, because i couldn't test the files (don't own a winmobile).

i uploaded to badongo:

Korean to English & Quick English to Korean Mdict MDX files

good luck.

You can find anything here (you just have to get through the waiting period to gain access to the "good stuff").

Best PDA site on The Web, hands down. (imo)

Thanks! I really appreciated your effort. Sadly, I got the mdx word lists but when I open the EngKor.mdx file with MDict, I can only see the English words. The KorEng.mdx file shows me the Korean and some messed up characters for the English. I'll try messing with it a bit tomorrow again. Maybe try adding a few more fonts. If not, I'll just bite the bullet and fork up the bit of change a decent dictionary software goes for. It's funny how you don't realize how dependent you are on something until it's gone. Smile

Anyway, thanks again!

i looked over the configuration of the stardict IFO file and there was one setting that was wrong for the ENG to KOR. Try these:

@badongo:

Korean to English & Quick English to Korean Update with fonts

you might have to rename the MDX files to shorter name if your winCE can't recognize them. hope this works.
