My recruiter said that she has a position in a PS. She said she already spoke with the co-teacher and everthing was fine and dandy. After i asked her for the contact number of the co-teacher, she couldn't give it to me because she was a foreign teacher and was placed in another school. (i thought all coteachers in PS were native korean teachers) She also told me to disregard the contract with gepik that she has sent me before because the board of education has new contract for the school i was assigned to and that i should wait few days till the new contract comes out. (i dont know where this came from).
Something smells fishy. i would like some info from those that have seen it all. |

If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck ... I'd say it's fishy.
Turn slowly and run quickly.
You're going to get screwed alittle no matter where you go in Korea.
The idea is to minimize the damage.
If it stinks before you get started the screwing will just get worse. |

1. If you can't talk to the people you will be working with there is a problem someone doesn't want you to know about. This is a fact. Otherwise, they would let you talk to them so they could sing the praises of the school.
2. Never sign a contract until you look it over carefully and are confident with what you are about to sign. I would never sign anything from a Hawgwan that is in Korean. The public school contracts for EPIK and GEPIK seem to be fair so I would sign one of those. Just make sure the contract that is being presented to you is really a contract for a public school and not something the principal and some Hawgwan owner drafted together to screw you.
Delete your employer's details and post the contract up here for some feedback. |
