So, the personal allowance for alcohol is 1.5L wine or 1.14L liquor.
Now, has anyone tried bringing back more than that? I heard we need to get the permission of the provincial authority if we want to. anyone know if this is true?
yes, I tried contacting CBSA. That's where i got the provincial authorty permission thing |

i generally bring back close to 6 liters of soju for friends and family when i go back for visits. i get the clear plastic, almost 1 liter, bottles from emart as they weigh less.
i'm not recommending this, mind you, but if they ask me directly if i have any alcohol to declare, i answer that i have 6 small bottles in my suitcase. i guess it's all a matter of perspective if you compare them the the giant 10 liters you can buy. the customs guys usually laugh it off, and i haven't had a problem in 3 years. |

You can take back as much as you want (over & above the exemption)... if you pay duty on it. |

you want to bring alcohol from KOREA to canada? have you tasted korean beer? soju?
the last time i went home i was waiting at the luggage carousel in the vancouver airport and the cops had drug sniffing dogs checking out all of the ajoshis and ajummas coming from korea - ha! why would anyone in their right mind transport narcotics from a seller's market (i.e. korea) to a buyer's market?!

what's wrong with soju? i like it. And I've tried korean beer, and it wasn't so bad like people said. But then again, i'm not relaly a beer guy.
I wanna take a Chilean wine back to Canada. They don't have it at the bc liquor store, but they have it at Emart. Plus, I wanna take back some soju cause its freakin' expensive in BC.
Btw, has anyone been to the liquor section at the Incheon Airport Duty Free store? If so, anyone know what they have and what the price range is? |

No freaking kidding!!! The specialty BC liquor store is the only place in Kelowna that I've ever found it, and it was $17.00 a bottle last time I was in Canada! Ridiculous. |

wtf. That's how much it is at a restaurant. At Lower Mainland branches they're only 9.50 |

Last year I was in the duty free shop at Incheon International, wondering if it would be OK to bring five 200ml bottles of soju in a small gift set to Canada. Who walks in but five old hags and one young poof in matching uniforms - ah, that must be the Air Canada flight crew, I'll ask one of them, I thought. So I asked one and she says I can bring back a one litre bottle. 'What about five 200ml bottles?' I enquired. 'I don't know; how many millilitres are in a litre?' she responded.
Maybe there's something to be said for Koreans requiring stewardesses to have a college certificate. |
