Damn! But I mean I can't really blame the guys.

There was absolutely no state of law at that time, and the only way thry could defend their lively hood was with guns.

Hell if people were looting my store I'd do the same thing.

That vid was pretty bad azz. I have a lot of respect for those old Korean guys.

Exactly, its stupid. If you're going to s h o o t (why does this word get blocked by the swear filter?) to kill, it had better be only at armed intruders obviously intent on taking your own life, ie self-defence.
I hope they got charged with attempted murder.

Would they have s h o t at koreans if they saw them looting too? i doubt it. Its the korean siege mentality/ instinctive disregard for all non-koreans rearing its head again.

The stuff was insured, theres no need to take peoples lives over a few nike trainers. But then again, their money and businesses are more valuable to Koreans than human life of course.

Pahh.... Looks more like a couple of boys playing cowboys and Indians. I've had military training and combat exp. If they had, they wouldn't have wandered around the streets openly waving guns and presenting themselves as an easy target, they would have fired from behind cover or at least knelt/lain down, and only targetted the most serious threats, highly selectively. If they simply wanted to clear the area of looters, firing over their heads should have done it. Perhaps its because they knew they were firing at poor unarmed civilians?

Their trigger-happy and racist nature is evident anyway because the riots were started when a korean shop=owner shot a black customer in the back of the head (even though she had actually been trying to pay for the bottle of orange juice at the time).

Give a korean a gun and they see it as a toy to play with. Watched too many westerns before immigrating?

The thing is that something like this always happens in the US in different cities at different times. I think the last major riots before LA were in NY's Crown Heights area, blacks attacking Jews. Then before was Miami a few year before 1988/89, during the week before Super Bowl. That time it was blacks looting cuban stores. And then Tampa Bay a month later.

Hate to say it but it's usually blacks that start the riots and then go on a looting rampage of the group who predominatly owns the businesses in the area, like Koreans, Jews, Arabs, Cubans, etc.

Quote:
Edward Song Lee

TIME: 9:50 p.m. LOCATION: Near corner of Third Street and Hobart Boulevard, Wilshire District

Lee, 18, a Korean-American living with his mom in the Wilshire District, was out with three friends when they got into a fight with another group of Koreans. Police responded to the gunfight and exchanged fire with both groups. Lee suffered two fatal hits to the chest as he sat in the front seat of a car. Someone in the rival group shot him. Detectives later learned the gun battle was a tragic mistake. Each group had been protecting Korean-owned stores and mistook the other for looters. Police made an arrest; no charges filed.

Actually, I believe that the majority of looters in LA were Mexicans.

If you look at it in pure numbers.

The adjoshis may have been a bit trigger happy, but again I can't blame them.

Even if their store was insured (although we don't eve know of that was the case and we all know how much a pain in the azz insurance companies can be).

Ideally you'll have a society that places heavy restrictions on fire arms. But during a time of madness and looting, you damn well have the right to protect your property.

Blacks and Latinos lootin' and the Koreans shootin' saddest display of people in their true primitive state?? All the while, Chief Gates and his cohorts munching on powdered donuts watching the play-by-play unfold like a pay-per-view event. Only in America baby!

yes, koreans are racist. moving into poor neighborhoods doesn't help matters. can't say i'd feel too bad about the black and mexican gangbangers getting wiped out, though. i'd rather have koreans shooting at looters than other minorities doing the looting.

I liked the part where she thought ajoshi was going to giver her his business card. Very Happy You can take the Korean out of Korea, but he's not going without his name carduh. (Oh, and his contempt for people with dark skin.)

I have a Korean-American friend in Seoul who blames the whole assault on Korean shops during the riots on Koreans themselves. He says that in LA's Koreatown the Koreans make no effort to conceal their contempt for blacks. Had it coming, he says.
