Well, my Koreans didn't mention it (in advance) but I guess I should have guessed it even though I've only been a ps teacher since Nov.

I got to school today and everyone was dressed for a ceremony except me. I was just dressed for a normal school day. I should just remember that at the beginning or end of anything around here there will be a ceremony. And dress appropriately.

I remembered, and got a special mention from the Principal and a few other comments about looking delicious. Think he was probably implying I should dress like this every day. Or I'm gonna be some kind of sacrifice before the days out.

How do you explain that if I dressed like this during the summer, I'll have to bring four suits in to school due to sweat damage.

I'm here in a suit and tie, but no one seems to know what to do with me.

They moved me out of my little "office" that I had last year, and now I am in the main staff room, where all the weekly meetings are held. I still have my computer, but there's no place to put any of my books or teaching materials........yeeeeeeeekkkkkk. I hope we can work this out somehow, I don't know how they expect me to prepare for lessons.

On the positive side, my new co-teacher is nice and she speaks pretty good English. Yes!!!!!!!

Anyhooooo, good luck to all in this year's endeavors.

P.S. It could be worse, in my average hagwan job, I would have gotten about 10 ddong chims by now. Shocked

And then, after the ceremony ended, they did this "checking hair length" routine. Actually, they did this at another ceremony (that was the Say Goodbye to the Departing Teachers and Hello to the Incoming Teachers Ceremony last Monday). This hair length checking ritual was follow-up, I guess to see if they followed the hair length orders from last week.

So much fun. (I got my haircut a couple of days ago.)

I got ya'll beat.

I was walking around in my underwear at school a bit distressed but knowing it was only a dream.

Turns out it wasn't a dream and I wandered right through the ceremony in my Calvins with morning glory and to top it all of the principal hung his jacket on it.

oh the shame.

lol.
Likewise. I didn't understand what exactly was being said, but at one point I distinctly heard 'funky hair' as in, 'No funky hair'.

Yeah a teacher said something then the kids started yanking at the person in fronts hair. Then the teachers went on stage to be introduced which was greeted with much screaming.
