Hey, i'm planning on going to korea this June, and i was wondering about the likely hood of landing a six month contract? Are they hard to come by? Are they only to be found in certain areas? Does anyone know any decent recruitment companies/schools that offer them? Any information anyone has to offer would be much appreciated.
Thanks |

E2 visas have a duration of sojourn of 1 year.
IF you are coming from abroad AND have to go through all the hoops to get a visa before working legally then the chances of getting a 6 month visa are slim at best.
If you are in Korea and are able to make a simple visa run or by virtue of an F-series visa are exempt from a visa run then the chance of getting a 6 month visa is pretty good.
The 3rd option is to come here on your own nickel and work illegally. Easy to get a short term contract but working illegally has its own risks and complications including but not limited to: criminal prosecution (detention, fines and deportation), not getting paid, no benefits (like medical insurance), etc.

6 months contracts are pretty hard to come across in Korea but there are places that offer them, and a few are reputable companies. YBM which runs the Seoul English Villages in Suyu and Nowon both offer 6 month contracts and sometimes 3 months too. Yes you can also get an E2 visa for a 6 month contract |

I got hired on for a year, but both of my co-workers were on 6 month contracts and they both had visas. I think the school preferred it that way because they didn't have to pay severance or round-trip airfare.
Although it turns out they refuse to pay anyone pension despite the law, but since my co-workers were British they didn't want to pay pension anyway. Point is, my manager is a lying bitch but 6 month contracts are possible. |

As I have been looking into it, it seems like most places have you sign for a year, but have no consequences if you leave after 6 months. However you will have to pay for your flight home. |

Well guys, no offense what so ever, but its my concern and my concern alone as to why i only want to go over for 6 months. The Post was in relation to advice on that subject, not an inquiry as to my motives. |
