No idea. Pretty sure it's not possible though. They're pretty stingy about downloading videos.

You might want to try the tech forum. This has been covered there.

Actually, there's a way to do this for any flash stuff on a webpage that does not require any program at all.

All you have to do is find the folder that has your browser's cache. Open it. Perhaps clean it out, too. Now open and start the youtube page. Look at the file that grows in size as the youtube buffer fills up. That's your file.

After it is finished, simple change the extension of that file to xxxxx.flv (I think. It's been a while since i've done this.)

Save it where ever you want. Now it will play with VLC, etc. that can play flash files. To play on more conventional stuff, you need to convert it to an .avi file. I've only done that to test that it is possible.

BTW, if you want to go this route, you could install a separate browser that you only use for this, and then you can easily empty out the cache. Opera tells you the location of its cache on the help-about screen.

You should be able to save any flash from a webpage this way.

I was using a website that automatically converted youtube clips, but youtube changed something, and it stopped working. So I switched to this. All the program was doing was finding the file and changing the extension on the file name.

I use youtube a fair amount in the classroom. You should see the kids try to figure out what expression to put on when watching Elvis. It kinda looks like they're sucking lemons.

Hope this helps.

http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/

download that program....open it then go to the clip you want...you get the url put it in the file. It will download as an .flv if you want to convert it to an avi the same program will work. This thing allows you to download video files then load them into your ipod video player or other mp3 player.

first, make sure the clip you want has been downloaded onto your computer. By this, I mean, make sure the red bar touches both sides of the screen (L and R), or, play the clip on youtube and make sure it plays the whole clip.

Then, go to Start>Accessories>system tools
select C drive and click OK
give it time to get things organized and cleaned up.
the pop up thing will change into something with options like "view temporary folder" and stuff like that.
select View Temp. Folder and click OK.

Part C:
there should be folders with were lables like GS7DFG99G
open one of the folders, change the view to DETAIL
then change the order to show the files from biggest size to small size.
then its just a process of elimination.
the video files will be a .fmk or something. it'll have a VIDEO icon, and it'll be big, not a 13kb file like the rest of the cookie crap in the folder.
just repeat part C until you find the right one.

when you open the video files, use "open with....*w/e media player you use*" assuming that double clicking doesn't work

i've done it before, and it works.

This program is as user-friendly as it gets to download YouTube video. I've used it for a few YouTube videos in the classroom myself.

You can always use keepvid.com (you have to rename the files) they will play using VLC as they are in flv format, but you can convert the flv into avi using Freez flv to avi converter (this is useful if you want to use powerpoint or mess around using windows moviemaker).

It is really easy to do, trust me if I can anyone can !

Mods can we move this to Tech forum and make it a sticky since I'm sure there are several teachers that could use this information.

Thanks.
