My only experience with these folks was when I had come to Korea for a
visit September 2006. I replied to one of their ads with my resume no
picture. Set up an interview. They postponed the interview and
requested a photo. I sent the photo, I called them and they decided the
position had been filled.
No the photo was not of me in a Santa Suit.
It was just me a rather distinguished gentleman in appropriate attire at
the ripe old age of 50. Yes, it's the age thing. |

READ the contract VERY CAREFULLY. ASK what is a class hour and HOW MANY CLASSES per week - not how many hours.
Overworked, underpaid and the list continues to build from there.
On the bright side however, if you start to ask the hard questions you will find that the position was filled last week (even if it never gets filled).

Hi,
Keep away from Namdaegu ECC. With any luck it has been closed by now.
To this day they owe me 2,000,000 Won.

I don't know about that particular ECC, but if you like a lot of (mostly redundant) paperwork, and a lot of take-home work, then ECC is the franchise for you. |

I had a heck of a time with the ECC I worked for in my little city. I figured out that I got ripped for between 5 and 6 million in my year+ there. The things is, I heard from other ECC people who said that they had the EXACT smae problems with their pay. I think corporate tells individual franchise owners how to screw foreigners.
Beware of things like how overtime is calculated. Are you being paid by hours per month? Per week? Per day? Considering that a lot of franchises only have one foreigner, it means you will not get to use your vacation days. Will they pay you for those?....and not at some shyte 16,600 won per hour rate, a full day rate?
Too many things to think about with those buggers.
edit - search (enter my user name, sort by date) some of my earliest posts and you will find threads related to my problems with ECC. |
