I am taking a flight to the embassy in Atlanta and I have all of my papers but I am confused, the website says I need a letter of reference notarized and "Document regarding establishment of school or organization."

Did anyone else have to do this?

You don't need them. They were already provided to Immigration in Korea in order to obtain your visa issuance number.

In general, once you have a visa issuance number (or letter of appointment from EPIK/GEPIK/SMOE), the following documents are needed for visa issuance at the consulate:
  • Completed "Application for Visa" (available at the consulate or can be printed out and completed beforehand
  • Passport
  • $45 cash or money order for the visa fee (generally no personal checks accepted)
  • Completed "Consul's Checklist for E-2 Applicant" (available at the consulate or can be printed out and completed beforehand)
  • Visa issuance number OR letter of appointment
Individual consulates may want a set of transcripts, copy of the health questionnaire, etc. Call or e-mail the consulate in Atlanta to find out what they require.

Don't fly to embasy unless you jump all their hoops. It might be a wasted trip. This is just a small taste of what to expect after you get here. If you are lucky, you might get fired after first 2 months because they just dont like how you look. Rolling Eyes

The embassy in Houston doesn't even interview or take a health check.

The Embassy is in Washington, DC. The outfits y'all are discussing are Consulates.

These are embassies. There is a consulate 40 minutes form me in Miami but I can't go there. I have to fly to Altanta to the Embassy where the "consulate" general resides (i think)

OK, one time only:

Diplomatic protocol states that each guest nation government is accorded one centralized base of operations called an 'embassy.' It is typically located in the host country's capital city or locale of federal powers, and is focused on maintaining diplomatic and political affairs. It also handles trade and consular affairs.

A guest nation government may have official representation in other locations, and these are referred to as 'consulates.' Consulates are more focused on trade and consular affairs.

There is only one embassy, but there can be many consulates.

In the US, the Korean embassy is in Washington DC, and there are many Korean consulates throughout the country.

I do not believe Atlanta is the site for any country's embassy. However, were that the case, it would probably be for Mississippi.

LOL, good one!

FYI, I had my interview at the CONSULATE in San Francisco on Monday and they gave me my visa the same day. So, depending on which CONSULATE you use, you might not have to make a second trip to pick up your passport, which makes things much easier if you live far away from the CONSULATE.

No, they are not. The embassy of the Republic of Korea is, in fact, located at 2450 Massachusetts Avenue, Washington, District of Columbia, 20008.

There is a Consulate General of the Republic of Korea at 229 Peachtree Street, Suite 500, International Tower, Atlanta, Georgia 30303.

There is a Consulate General at 201 S. Biscayne Bl., Suite 800, Miami , FL 33131.

A consul is a person. A consulate is the premises (such as a building) where the consul works.

The Miami consulate on Biscayne closed. The new one (which is not a consulate) only gives out tourist/short term visas. If you look at link below Miami is not even listed so the link you gave me has not been updated.

I just called the embassy in DC and they said I have to go to ATL which really sucks b/c I have to cover the cost for the taxi to and from the airport.

I am sorry Centralcali... you are very wise and I now have a clear understanding of the differences between an Embassy and a Consulate. Your intelligence is truly enlightening.

Actually, I am not kidding, thanks
