Hello everyone! I can across this question in a TEFL course that I'm taking. He has a fast car: He drives fast. I understand the difference between the two. However, I cannot seem to think of any activities that I could use to explain the difference. So, if anyone out there has any great suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Sounds like the kind of question they want you to tackle on CELTA applications...

Try pictures. Show students a picture of a Ferrari, get them to agree it's a fast car. Stick it on the board next to a drawing of Bob. Then show them a picture of a piece of junk car or really ordinary boring car and stick it on the board next to a drawing of Bill. Then mime Bill overtaking Bob: students should be surprised but write 100kph next to Bill and 60kph next to Bob, then finally put the sentences 'He has a fast car' and 'He drives fast' on the board. You could finish off by getting them to figure out which sentence goes with which picture assuming they kept up with you through it all....

DUH.

Picture of Ferrari. Happy owner standing beside.

Picture of Hyundai. Wanton idiot driving wrecklessly inside.
