so does SHE(only coming in as a tourist for a month or two) have to book a return ticket or will a single suffice? will it be ok if she brings another single ticket to australia (it may be a return to korea to come and see me again) |

The best thing to do would be to call at the embassy and ask them or somewhere else where you could get an official answer.
Anyway, in my case, the first time I came to Korea I was on a tourist visa with a one-way ticket. It worked for me some years ago, but the law may have changed since then. |

I've flown into Korea heaps of times as a tourist and with a work visa. Never once been asked to show a ticket. |

Not sure where you're from, but Canadians can stay in the country for 6 months on a tourist visa. My boyfriend has been here since mid September and left the country for a week in February, and when he returned they didn't ask him any questions despite the fact that he had been here for 5 months and was coming back. So it should be fine with or with out a ticket, I doubt they will even ask her anything. |

Immigration won't look or care unless there is something else that bothers them and causes an investigation.
The problem with not having the legally required exit ticket will come from the check-in counter at the airport. They are the ones who may give you grief, especially if you are coming from north America.
They are the ones who get fined and bear the cost of your removal if you do get stopped at immigration so they are the ones to get anal about it. Air Canada was the worst but AA and NW can be a pain-in-the-azz about it too.

ttompatz is right on the money.
I had no end to grief at the AC check-in because I was going to the ROK w/o a return ticket. There was a thread last year about the AC bullhockey but I've been unable to find it. |
