My GF and I will be getting married and I am curious as to the process one must go through with the local government offices, the canadian embassy and, ultimately, canadian immigration, when we leave here in september. What comes first? What kind of paperwork is needed? etc. Thanks. |

It's complicated, but most of the burden is on her. The trickiest part is updating the family registry, which will have to be done before your marriage is legally recognised.
You will end up making two trips to your district office and one to the embassy. I don't remember all the details but we didn't have that much trouble figuring it out. |

It's a lengthy process, though not especially difficult. Do a google search with your question, include eslcafe in your search, and you will find previous threads with all the information you need. |

The process here will be MUCH less complicated than the process to get her landed immigration status in Canada :S |

It's not painful at all. Did it years ago and the only thing I had to do was get a piece of paper from the Can Embassy saying I'm not married in Canada.
The wife had to do the rest |

You are looking at 6-8months processing time (that is if you have have not missed anything in your documents) |
