God knows why my original got deleted. Anyway, I have had an offer through for a job in Asan and would like to know what people think of the place. I have heard next to nothing about the city so if you have lived there or just passed through I would like to hear what you think about it.

The fact that Asan is on a subway line is the only redeeming factor about it, and it's still over an hour away from the center of Seoul. There is nothing to do in Asan, nor in its neighboring, bigger city of Cheonan.

The subway is not going to open in Asan until November, and I have never seen an Indian or Pakistani restaurant here. There might be a subway to Ansan which is a completely different city.

I have been here for a year. There is very little to do here; I leave town most weekends. Things are a little expensive here as well.

Who offered you a job?

I know Cheonan is on the line, and Asan and Cheonan share a KTX/train line. If Asan is not on the direct subway line, that's more reason to avoid it.

Care to elaborate? Idiot.

There's a fair amount to do and see in the area. PM me for details. Don't be put off by the uninformed rubbish above.

In the interim, check here to see what's going on with the expats in Cheonan:

Having been in both Asan and Cheonan with friends, I was ready to head back to Seoul, as were the other people with me. I didn't live there, so maybe you know of some awesome hidden gems in the city. Why don't you post them for the OP?
