|
|
My co-teacher phoned the British Embassy today. Forgive my ignorance fellow posters, but she was told I don't have to get my U.K. criminal check apostilled at the FCO in London for it to be accepted by immigration.
I just need to give the British Embassy in Korea my criminal check, they will stamp it, and this will be acceptable to immigration.
Anybody else heard this?!! I apologize if I am behind the times on this issue. |

It'd be good if this is true. Did you call the embassy? |

Nopers. My co-teacher called them and let me speak to them. I spoke to the relevant Embassy individual and she said because it is inconvenient for teachers already in Korea to return to the U.K. for just an apostille, this is a valid method to use. |

If the embassy won't stamp the background check itself, you may be able to do the "statutory declaration" thing like the Canadians. |

I phoned the British Embassy in Korea myself today and they confirmed I DON'T NEED TO GET MY CRIMINAL CHECK APOSTILLED IN THE U.K., they said a stamp from the British Embassy will be accepted by immigration.
To be on the safe side, I intend to get the apostille done anyway. |

Do we get out degree transcripts apostilled or do they just have to be sealed in the University envelopes? |

I am renewing here in Korea for a second year, I'm not an expert on newbies, but I think transcripts just need to be sealed. |

Transcripts just need to be sealed by the university on the entrance to the envelope. Only one copy is needed.
I am waiting to hear from the British Embassy regarding a number of outstanding issues regarding E2 visa renewals. All first time applicants from the UK and Ireland will find everything they need to know regarding the E2 visa procedure on my facebook group.

This is fairly unlikely so early in the game but has anyone (British) got their CRC stamped anywhere other than the UK or Korea?
I am in Bangkok at the moment and have stupidly had my CRC sent here. Un-apostilled.
Time frame wise (for the job I've been offered) it makes more sense for me to get it stamped at the British Embassy on Monday and send it on to Korea with my other docs.
Any idea if this is likely to be possible? Embassy is of course, closed for the weekend. My forward planning is legend... |

Re Bangkok apostille
That's an interesting one. If the British Embassy can provide legalisation of the CRC in Seoul then there's no reason why the British Embassy cant do the same in Bangkok. However, whether the Ministry of Justice in Korea accepts that is a different matter altogether. Check with all concerned, Ministry of Justice, British Embassy. It's the only way. |
