Korean pop artists with actual talent, go figure? That love supreme joint is getting serious playtime on my nano.
Regardless if they bit samples, that album has the perfect mix of tito puente, jamrock, and soulful harmony less the Korean shouting.
Let's hope this Windy City movement grows.. |

Windy City is by far the best Korean band ever!
They are very talented, doing the funk-latin-reggae extremely well.
However, they are still pretty underground as Koreans don't really know what to make of them- they aren't cutesy teenagers with coiffed hair, they don't do lame choreographed dances, and they actually write their own songs and play their own instruments(d@mn good).
Everybody, listen to Windy City! |

I wouldn't classify them as "pop" at all. Dance-reggae-rock is better.
I do need to check out their other albums, I just have the one with "El Nino Prodigo" on it. |

Personally I can't stand bands that mix reggae and rock. From the recordings I've heard they sound like quite a placid band. I'll stick with my Kingston Rudieska for some authentic Jamaican sounds. |

Windy City are fantastic!
If you like their jazz-funk angle, it's worth checking out their previous incarnation 아소토 유니언 (Asoto Union). They did a very nice LP called 'Sound Renovates a Structure.' |

Cool, I didn't know they were 아소토 유니언.
I like WC enough. They definitely have good feel, though they're a little too cheesy with the funk for me.
The only bands I've sorta liked here have been Nastyona, 99 Anger, 3rd Line Butterfly, Bulssajo, Galaxy Express to some extent. Wish I could find more awesome & original music without having to look at least to Japan. |

Good Korean music is rarely in the charts, which is a shame because there is some great stuff out there. |

JYP! Use your connects and get this band a record deal in the US. It's the least you can do for poisoning us with Rain, who by the way is better suited for gay porn. |
