I am writing this as an American who sees the hatred of the Koreans and other nations including our allies in Europe towards Americans. I along with many other Americans have been laughed at, verbally assaulted, and made fun of because we are American. We also are treated like criminals from the day we got here because if anything goes wrong we are always blamed. The whole world tends to blame THEIR problems on Americans because they don't want to admit it is their fault. Besides Koreans, when I went to the GEPIK winter workshop many of the other English teachers from other nations started to insult Americans and our country because they can not seem to blame themselves. Without America, there would be no South Korea it would be ruled by communism, which as you see does not work for the Korean peninsula (North Korea). As for other nations there would be no United States money going into foreign aid and purchases (everyone knows United States puts more money internationally than domestically). Without United States every country would be ruled by dictatorship, communism, and theocracy (as each allied war happened it took the USA to be involved to win). So I ask all Americans whether you believe in the same politics as me or not, to stand together against the hatred towards Americans.

If it was not for America, the Canadians would have marched down south and burned a bunch of Native Americans. That's no fun. But instead we burned all the major towns and we are the only country to burn down the whitehouse. Wink

It was British Forces that burned the White House. Canadians are only capable of burning a doobie.

The British may have burned down the whitehouse but they lost the war, wait they lost two major wars against the US. Besides I think Washington is a better place for the whitehouse.

Be honest truthful, at best the war of 1812 was a draw. The British burned the Whitehouse and won most land battles but he Mi-Gooks won most Naval battles and forced the British to respect the free passage of American ships (which was what the whole war was about in the first place).

The last formation of British troops had intention of taking over the country but since they were so few in number they lost not successfully taking it over. What also helped us was the fact mother nature happened. During that time a hurricane happened along with a tornado and plus we all remember the Battle of New Orleans where Andrew Jackson sealed the deal of defeat to the British giving us the power of claimant.

Thereyou go again stretching the truth. The Battle of New Orleans took place AFTER hostilities were officially ended. It was victory to be sure but a rather pointless victory given that the US and British had already declared an end to the war.

Well this treaty also showed the win for the US. The British saw that after the Battle of Plattsburgh and the Battle of Baltimore that they could not hold on to US territory consequently seeing that US was the clear winner.

This is what the Duke of Wellington wrote
I confess that I think you have no right, from the state of war, to demand any concession of territory from America... You have not been able to carry it into the enemy's territory, notwithstanding your military success and now undoubted military superiority, and have not even cleared your own territory on the point of attack. you can not on any principle of equality in negotiation claim a cessation of territory except in exchange for other advantages which you have in your power... Then if this reasoning be true, why stipulate for the uti possidetis? You can get no territory: indeed, the state of your military operations, however creditable, does not entitle you to demand any.[46]

Yeah...cuz they just looooooved us before the Iraq war... Shocked

I know where the OP is coming from though. The attitude towards the U.S. from much of the world is sometimes, maybe even often, deserved.
But when the U.S. gets it right, like fighting AIDS in Africa, no one likes to give them credit. And then you get so many people with dismissive attitudes, like "yeah, well it's about time". It's like they all got their hand out for something but then use that same hand to b*tch slap you. Like a bitter ex-wife.

The blame I am talking about is from nations anytime something goes wrong with their even if we are not involved. I would not say often deserved, I would say sometimes deserved.

We become victims because other nations do not want to face responsibility for their actions, so they blame us.
