"PILATES" defines an entirely unique method of total body conditioning developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's. The professional dance and athletic world has been using the method for over 50 years. In recent years it has become popular both in areas of rehabilitation and throughout elite celebrity circles. While it has become renown for centering on the posturally supportive "core" or girdle muscles muscles (deep abs, bottom, low back), not a muscle goes unaddressed in Pilates - from the scalp to the toes.
Joseph Pilates also intended for the mind, the neuro-chemical system and meridians of the body through accupressure points to be awakened. There is nothing quite like Pilates, nor as appealing. Virtually anyone can do Pilates; young, old, heavy, frail, sick, injured, strong and weak.
All benefit.
Think that is what he is talking about, and considering I never heard of it back in my home country, I will be straight up and say "Huh?".
Maybe check some of the bigger chain health clubs like Ballys? |
