with soul singer John Legend -

They sing "The Doggone Girl is Mine" (originally performed by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney) after a comedy set-up of "who loves America (represented by Lady Liberty) more?"
After that opening clip, there's a weekly recap of the show. The John Legend episode aired Thursday, March 6, and the singer articulated his support for Obama while the host chided him for thinking that America needed to change anything...
Here's another link that features the song, but the player is smaller -

The clip that came up for me was not Legend, but most of the program with Senator George McGovern. The whole thing was hilarious. One of the very best Colbert Reports.
McGovern must be pushing 90 and has written a book and says he's working on another one.
I thought he handled the question, "Are you on acid" extremely well. |

I finally found the Legend clip and enjoyed it as well. But the McGovern one is classic. I put it on another thread...just because.
I had one of those jarring moments of awareness in class today. We were doing a thing about the Beijing Olympics, so of course I asked my students about the Seoul Olympics. They are all 27 years old, so they were just starting elementary school and don't remember it. Far different from my students in '94 who said the Seoul Olympics were the most important event in the 80's, even more important the fall of the Berlin Wall. |
