Don't ask why, but my buddie just got here 3 days ago, and after promised he wouldn't have to get a blood test, got one on his first day. Needless to say, there is weed in his system. What's going to happen? I presume he will be sent home, but when? He gets the results in a week. |

If we're lucky, your "friend" is going to realize that "he" is a dumb ass. |

What's going to happen is your friend is going to lose his visa here and have to go home. For enjoying a joint, he'll be escorted out of the country by officers who'll probably drink so much soju they're gonna hallucinate it's the Chosun Dynasty. |

He doesn't have to get his ARC for 90 days.
Unless the hospital calls his school or worse, the police, he has until then.
If they don't tell anyone but him, he may have another chance to re-test at another hospital before he needs to get his ARC.
If they call his school he can expect to get fired soon.
(public school = ASAP, hakwon = as soon as they can replace him).
If they call the police (and they might) he may get escorted out next week at his own expense.
He better make arrangements ASAP to get cash from home for his ticket. It will save spending too much time in a detention cell while he waits for outbound transportation.

Your friend should have done his homework. I was at the Korean Consulate in Toronto a few weeks ago and a guy who wanted to head to Korea lit up a joint after leaving the embassy. Brilliant.
Most likely he will be deported and also blacklisted for a certain amount of time? |

Please elaborate (seriously, not trying to be a *beep*)
I believe his passport could at least be flagged. |

I've heard of this for international drug smuggling. Not for showing up positive for the world's safest drug.
IF the doctors notify anyone and IF it is the police and IF he is deported, it ends there. Korea is not going to tell every country in the entire world, nor do they want the guy to possibly remain in Korea because other countries no longer allow him entrance.
The drug test is for a working visa, not a tourist visa or for entrance to a country. |

Fair enough. Seems plausible.
Where a person would have to be more concerned probably, is being refused entry at the airport for whatever reason. |

Is your friend really that stupid? I don't want to be condescending, but grow the F up. I have no sympathy or condolences for that situation. I don't know what country your friend hails from (i could easily guess), but they should consider their habit and its importance before trying to have any kind of job that doesn't involve flipping a burger or answering a phone. |
