Hi everyone,
I've just got a question about the medical check-up we have to do to get an alien card now. I understand it isn't just giving a blood and urine sample and having a chest x-ray. I've heard on here and from someone who recently did it that they check your vision, hearing and teeth as well. What I'm wondering is, could they disqualify/deport you for some condition or problem that isn't HIV/AIDS or a drug addiction? I am deaf in one ear, do you think that might be a problem? I have about twice the hearing in my good ear, so it isn't really a big problem for me. Plus, I taught here for one year last year and no one even needed to know about it. What do you guys think? |

It's not in the regulations. You should have nothing to worry about.
See my post in the other thread for the location of the medical form on the Korean side of the immigration website or drop me your e-mail and I will send it to you. |

My girlfriend and i had our check a week or so ago and we didnt have to do a hearing test, just a sight and colour blindness check, though it probably depends on where you actually get it done. However if the organisation is as slack as ours was then i dont think they're taking the whole process to seriously. For example our urine test was done in a paper cup (with coffee time written on it!!) and then put on a tray, unmarked (!), with another 10 samples. so basically i wouldnt worry about it too much, i get the feeling that as long as your not an obvious heroin addict with AIDS then you should be pretty safe. |
