Norman Finkelstein is an interesting case. One of the few courageous dissenters inside Mickey Mouse Land when it comes to the subject of the Israeli Colonisation Project. Go Finkelstein!

Thanks for posting those bb. No better way to spend a rainy Sunday.

Though, I suspect I know where this thread will head.

I assumed Tariq Ali (a well known historian and writer) was giving a lecture, but he's actually just introducing the other speakers. So there are in fact only 8 lectures.

Here's an article about the conference that appeared in the Jewish Telegraphic Agency: Article

Let's hope you're wrong. It's getting so bloody tiresome around here. I expected that 'subject area' to make an appearence (after all Chomsky and Finkelstein are speaking) but having listened to a few more of the lectures, it appears to be a dominant theme. Not surprising though, considering the current political climate.

Tariq Ali

He's one of the most boring writers alive. He's so boring that I wasn't sure if he was alive when he wrote the books. I was foolish enough to buy 3 or 4 at one time because they are historical fiction and I like that kind of writing.

I hope the publisher who accepted his books goes bankrupt.

That "subject area" is at the center of any talk about academic freedom. How many academics have been fired for expressing a dissenting view about global warming, abortion or rational economics?

Add to that, it was Finkelstein who exposed the monumental intellectual fraud of the pro Israel Joan Peter's 'From Time Immemorial", even though his University tried to shut him up, first by threats then when he couldn't be intimidated, by bribes.

Talk about academic freedom. Laughing

You like historical fiction? Try Joan Peters' "From Time Immemorial".

f supporting Israel is supporting colonization the opposing Israel is being an apologists for when Israel's enemies persecute their minorities and attempt ethnic cleansing.

You might have found this thread of interest then: The Holocaust Industry. It at least started off being about Finkelstein...

Oh no I can use it to answer you just fine.

Anyway: If supporting Israel is supporting colonization the opposing Israel is being an apologists for when Israel's enemies persecute their minorities and attempt ethnic cleansing.
