I just read that William K. passed away from his burn injuries, apparently overnight. I want to extend my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at that elementary school. I didn't know him, but his picture was that of a handsome and charismatic guy, who seemed to have a lot of friends. I was enraged by this and the previous stories. There is no need for this tragedy to have to happen today.

No, there is no reason to feel bad about having doubted it.

Out of interest what will happen to the excess money? Will it go towards a charity of some sort or will it have all been used up?

What excess money? It's not like bills suddenly dissappear due to death.

They've raised about 60,000 $US and are looking 70-80 million in bills before they can transport the body back to the States.

I hope the director who sponsored Bill Kapouns E2 visa and brought the poor sod over goes to jail for this.

In my pokey, crappy apartment, there was one door (the front door) meaning if there was a fire raging outside the door I would have got burnt alive.

How many of us live (or lived) in a fire hazard? the majority probably.

How many of us have worked for thieving directors who have skimped on our medical insurance? The majority probably.

I never followed this story too closely but this thread was the first that I heard that a girl was killed in the fire as well. I find it a bit sad that she wasn't mentioned as much as her boyfriend.

I agree with the guy above, but you know what will happen. A fine if that. Probably nothing. When and where is the candlelight vigil for this poor sod?

If anyone wants to start one up I'll be sure to go.

I also doubted it from the beginning. Now come to find out his gf died in the fire! Why no mention of her? Money should be split between them.

You know what I-am-me - if Bill Kapouns girlfriend had been white and from one of the 7 countries - then her family would have been getting help with the money, I'm pretty sure of it - I'd hate to think the girlfriends family are getting shunted off because they happen to be Korean. Shocked

According to the posts by the Kapoun family on the Facebook page, his girlfriend's parents asked for privacy. The lack of mention was in accordance with their wishes.
