There is a separate form to fill in addition to 1040 called 2555, the foreign earned income form. If you made less than 85,000 and worked abroad consecutively for at least 330 days, then you are exempt from paying U.S. taxes. At least that's what I gathered from doing it all online. Try TurboTax, it's pretty simple. I estimated my income, and also included airplane ticket and paid apartment as part of it. You don't need to send any w2's or anything. |
