| It's somewhere NE of Seoul. I can't find much out about it online. If anyone has lived ther before please tell me what your opinion of it is. |

| It's directly south of Seoul, the furthest stop south on line 1. Basically it's on the northern edge of nowhere. |

To the OP: Nope, it's actually SW of Seoul. About 150 km.
It's convenient, KTX is nearby, lots of western-type conveniences - but ugly, as far as cities go. The slogan "FAST - Cheonan!" is pretty apt when you look at how haphazard a lot of the overpasses/bridges/tunnels are. But it's one of those places that's expected to grow over the next little while. I don't live there, but I don't live too far from there - so I can't tell you about what it's like to live there - just my impressions from visiting. |

| There was a Cheonan and Asan (next town over) thread. Indytrucks swears he knows of some good things to do there. I was ready to get back to Seoul when I stopped in that area. |

My in-laws live in Cheonan, in the "old" part of town. There are apparently two parts of town - the old part, where they have a lot of those old-style pedestrian lanes in residential/villa areas, and the new part of town, with the nightlife, newer buildings, etc...
They seem to be doing roadwork there all the time, trying to upgrade the older parts of town, widen roads, put new piping under the ground, fix the ancient infrastructures, ...
It's basically an up-and-comer, but it's one of those "small cities" outside of Seoul where nothing of note ever happens. There are a couple of universities out there, though.
Expect roughly a 2-hour commute into Seoul... |

With the exception of the "NE of Seoul" part, I don't see anything here that's misinformation. |

And that he does, his mates even graciously showed me around the town after he fell asleep after a sumptuous turkey dinner! Swanky neo-Japanese hof downtown rates a mention, as well as an old joint that looks like it would be a fine home for the Bagginses complete with German ale. |

The turkey dinner was indeed sumptuous, and 'falling asleep' is being a bit generous.
Cheonan is not without its charms. There's plenty of things to do if you like the outdoors, eating out, socialising, etc. You have to know where to look. It's also well-situated as a jumping-off point for travel around Korea.
And if you really find it that boring, you're only a bus or KTX ride away from Seoul to whoot it up at RMT or Castle Praha.
