I have an apartment full of flies at the moment - there are literally dozens of the buggers & they are driving me nuts.

Does anyone have a reliable way to get rid of them (or deter more) that doesn't involve spraying poison everywhere? If not is fly spray readily available here?

I remember reading about home made 'sticky fly paper' somewhere long ago.....anyone ever tried that?

There's some sort of thing you can plug in that's a deterrent, though I'm not sure its much better than the spray. If all else fails, a good shot of hairspray will immobilize them- its how a friend deals with bees Laughing

What kind of flies? I have some strange flies in the bathroom (smaller than a house fly, bigger than a fruit fly, kind of triangular-shaped), and I occasionally see some other smaller flies in the living area, but I rarely ever see house flies here.

Thanks for the ideas people - & Kimchi Cowboy I mean the ordinary everyday house fly. I live in a rural area & they're everywhere at the moment.

This weekend I am determined to zap 'em!

In case there are others out there with a fly problem, I found these sticky sheets at the local corner store. They cost 2200 won for a pack of 10 & they're brilliant. As you can see from the pic, after 30 minutes there were a dozen or so flies out of action.
On a different tangent, all the flies ended up stuck in little groups rather than individually, even if they got stuck at different times. Did one fly attract another? Do they send out distress signals? Do they share a hive mind? Does anyone care?

the 'flies' in the bathroom are 'gnats' -
is there a strong odor/smell from drains in the bathroom too?
there are probably no traps in the drain lines
just keep all the drains plugged even when not in use

We always used the term gnats for any small fast flying bug.

Usually I have fruit flies. If I remove the trash then they go away.

The little triangular winged bugs in the bathroom don't do a lot of
flying and I just leave them alone.

I'd go with the sticky paper stuff. My Mum had a really bad problem last summer at her house in the UK. It was unbelievable. The flies just appeared (and kept appearing) from nowhere over about a 2-week period. We had no idea where they came from, but her house is a converted barn with a wooden beamed ceiling and we thought fly eggs were hatching from within the woodwork.

Anyway, we ended up putting about 5 or 6 of those strips in each room. Over the course of an hour I'd say each had about 25+ flies stuck to each one. Much more effective than sprays etc.

Any suggestions?

Dress up like a spider. It's scares the crepe out them.

......or lob a grenade into your apartment.

It's up to you really, both pretty effective.
