I just noticed today that all my files (word, and picture files) are missing from my computer. What the hell?????? How could this have happened? Could I have done this by accident. I mean my computer is completely Korean so I just go around pushing buttons until I find what I want, but could I possible have erased all my files by accident. How the hell would one go about doing that!? My music files were all intact, but all the pics and every other document on my comp is poof! gone. Also my Internet Explorer icon is gone. I had to go to the serach application and then click internet to get on-line. I am really not that computer savvy, which is why I am pleading for some geek help. I also checked the recycle bin, nothing in there either. Oh, and I tried to search for some of my documents, but nada.

Have an idea?

get yourself a copy of Stellar Pheonix NTFS & FAT and run that on the drive where the files used to be. You'll then be able to recover everything unless you've been writing files to the drive in which case you'll be missing some files.

good luck.

You have a nasty virus by the sounds of it or an over zealous co-worker who cleaned your computer for you.

With any luck they are just "hidden" by a virus.

Open a file folder,
Click "tools"
Click "folder options"
Click the "view tab"
about 10 lines down you should see "show hidden files and folders"
check the box.
Click apply.
Close.

Repeat the process to make sure the box stayed checked (the kxvo.exe virus is going around in Korea and will not let you un-hide stuff).

IF it stayed checked, you can re-search for your files. then download and install a good anti-virus program.

If it turned itself back off (do not show hidden files and folders) checked itself then you have at least the kxvo / kxva / hbq flavor of viruses (and possibly others as well) and need more help.

IF this is the case, you CAN fix it yourself but you will need to do a search for the step by step directions. Let me know if you need a link to the steps.

I'm so sorry. I hope you can laugh at and with me, and don't get angry.

I apparently signed on to the computer as the administrator and not the master.

What a cock! Embarassed

Well, that solves the mystery. Now if another moron asks you the same question you can tell them to switch users. I hope you will understand that I could have figured this out with and English computer, and though I am pretty proficient in conversational Korean, computer Korean is like a whole other language to me.

Thanks for your help, anyway I don't know how I'd survive in this world without people like you.
