I am a little perplexed with the latest pay from my public school. *it's also my first pay with this school as I tranferred from another school at the beginning of the semester in March. I am on the Level 1 pay scale with IMOE receiving 2.3mil monthly.

So,

I began this semester on March 3rd and received pay on March 25th.
2,300,000 / 31 *29 = 2,151,612 KW . The income tax amount deducted was 37,740 whereas at my previous public school it was 20,000 [same salary] two months ago SAME CALENDAR YEAR WHY?? The income tax amount deducted is not from my gross salary of 2.3mil. Perhaps next month pay it will be. Looking ahead to next month [it has 30 days] so 2,300,000 / 30 *30 = 2,300,000KW. Deductions will be based upon this amount ~ -pension (2x) - health (2x) and lunch fee (2x) . I MAY get just 1.9~ next pay.! Oh, dear.

The first pay is always the hardest!

I will be asking the school about the lunch fee~ perhaps they can agree to deduct for one month at a time. Let u know.

the first school was doing your income tax wrong.. dont have time but go to the tax site and it will have a monthly calculation.. health should be around 63 and pension a little over a 100.. can get you more info later.. in between classes now..

At a public school, your deductions should amount to about 200k won on a salary of 2.3 mil.

If your previous school only deducted 20k won then they made a mistake
(with the proviso that you were:
a) single,
b) on an E2 and
c) not entitled to a tax exemption. )
