So I'm a noob here and was just informed that it's white day. They told me it's like the other half of valentines day and guys give stuff to girls.
My head teacher gave me a sucker and then had me give it back to her, and then the other teachers said that I should get them candy. So I told them oh, too bad, I didn't know and they just say "we can wait." As if they expect me to run out in the middle of the school day to get them candy or something.
However, they also told me it's "for lovers." I'm not dating any of them, much less all of them. What's the deal here? |

my students explained it was like Valentine's day, but yea, the other half: they give candy instead of chocolate, and guys give girls the stuff.
all i know is that my students were eating candy in class and were soo hyper, it's going to be a long day.
and my korean co-workers told me that guys are supposed to get candy for girls. |

Basically, Valentine's Day is the opposite from what we're used to. Women give men chocolates and candies. I suppose you weren't here for Valentine's Day? I don't like chocolates at all but I received a lot of chocolates from students parents and some female friends.
Today is White Day and guys are supposed to return the favor for the women. You don't have to buy gourmet chocolates or anything although it might be weird if you received some on Valentine's Day and bought something cheap in return. I think it's "the thought that counts" although it seems like you're being strong armed into it. If you go to the convenience store, they have ferre roche chocolates that are pretty cheap. |

i'm not a guy, but many of my girl students are giving me candy! i have some candy on me (pretty much all the time, i use it for rewards) so i've given them a candy back.... except their candy is usually way more elaborate than mine! ...suckers with really long stems, little bags of candy...
they may be hyped up on sugar today, but hell, so am i |

| I was hoping that white day was when Korean girls have sex with whitey. I have been hoping this for years, but just get stupid chocolate. |

What? I thought this was the day we were supposed to celebrate our White Heritage! Damn, I just went and ruined a bedsheet by cutting out eye holes for nothing! |

| Gifts received thus far: 3 chuppa chups and a packet of strawberry gum. Damn I wish I worked in a boys' school today! I reckon I'd make a killing. |

Okay, I've gotten a few things myself now, only from girls (I'm a guy, if the name wasn't obvious). I was actually here for Valentines and don't recall getting anything. Sounds like that should mean I'm off the hook...
But I am getting the impression that it's not just "for lovers" so it would be normal for me to get my female co-workers some candy, right?
P.S.
Thanks everyone who replied. Even crescent. |
