Hi all,

If any of the board experts may be able to please answer...

1) is it standard to have YOUR OWN computer WITH internet access at work (public school)? i would be very keen to use the internet to download teaching material, that's all.

2) If i refuse a GEPIK school offer, will that make me ineligible to apply for other GEPIK schools? I've seen this stated for the EPIK program, so i wanted to see if it were the same for GEPIK.

3) GEPIK contact question:

whats the deal here? first they say.... we work max 40hrs per week... then (next clause) they say we can be asked to teach extra hours out of regular hours up to 6hrs without needing teacher consent?

does this mean we can expect to be forced to do (without recourse) up to 6hrs over and above the standard 40hrs per week?

Article 7(Work Hours)
1.Employee shall work eight 8 hours per day including lunch hour for five (5) calendar days per week from Monday to Friday and shall not work on Saturdays, Sundays and Korean national holidays.

3. Employee�s regular teaching hours shall not exceed twenty-two (22) hours per week. Employee may be asked to teach extra hours within and/or out of the regular working hours. Extra teaching should not exceed 6 hours per week without Employee�s consent.

1. Every FT that I know has their own school-provided computer w/ internet access. The quality of the computer is usually the only problem.

2. Are you applying directly to GEPIK or to a recruiter who is finding a teacher for a GEPIK school?

3. You will work for 40 hours per week. You may teach up to 28 hours (40-50 min. each). So, it isn't any time above and beyond the 40 hours, just more than the 22 base teaching hours.[/i]

1. My school provides me with a desktop in the English lab office, a laptop, and a computer in each of the English classrooms. All these computers can access the Internet. I can't speak for other schools.

2. No idea.

3. It is possible for the school to require a teacher to work more than 8 hours a day. I have had this confirmed, but in the limited context of teaching 'extra classes' (i.e., classes beyond the normal 22 hours) outside of normal working hours.
