Yesterday, the boss handed us all forms to request our criminal background checks from the Korean police. Apparently, the Ministry of Education wants to have these on file. All of us, Korean and foreign teachers alike had to do this. Has anyone had this experience? |

Nope, but I'm surprised that you weren't asked to go and get it done in person. |

This makes a hell of a lot more sense than police checks from the USA. I've been in Korea for most of the past eleven years. |

I did it last September. It was quick and free. |

Easy to do, fill in a form and submit it (via the school or in person) to the district (GU) police station.
quick, easy, free. |

I have been arrested (not charged or convicted, but finger printed) in Korea before and will be working for a public school. Is it a problem? I was arrested i nAnyang, but will be working in Ilsan. Do they share information? |

I know they share information, but I don't know if it will be a problem or not. Sometimes people here are convicted without even knowing it. |

How do I request mine? Do I have to wait for the school to ask for it, or can I just walk in to a precinct? |

Just walk into a precinct and ask for one. Do take your passport with you. |
