Please, some advice on what to do...
I finally gave my boss a notice that I want to quit, but here's the thing. I've just about reached the 5 month mark and things are getting cold and bitter around Korea (of course things are cold now in Japan too, one of my options) and I don't think I want to stay around Korea. I'm tired of Itaewon sluts, I'm tired of good girls thinking I'm a player. I'm tired of hagwon BS, I'm tired of the same friggin spice in every single food. I guess I've reached the 5 month mark where it's getting old. Also...I'm making 2.6 a month, whereas my younger brother came here 3 months ago without a full degree, got himself a cheap pad in Itaewon and is now making over 3.5 working less hours than me doing part time gigs for honorable recruiters (but it took him more than 2 months to build up his schedule) I will have saved, at the time I quit almost 9.0 in the last 5 months. Here's another twist to the plot...I met a guy my first month here who was a decent looking Australian man in his late 20's who lives in Japan and works at a male host bar. He pulls in almost 50 thousand a year just off "sugar mommas" and says that some people who have a big clientele make over 6 figures. One guy was given a $50,000 Benz. Before anyone criticizes my pondering of this idea, I know it's a different life style and somewhat shameful line of work...in fact, the reason this guy was in Korea when I met him was because he was hiding out from Yakuza who were hunting him down for being a gang member's host. My question is this...has anyone heard of anyone doing something like this? Does anyone know where I can get information about it? (I'll be sure not to mess with Yakuza). I lost contact with this guy, but have kept it in the back of my mind if things got hairy with the jobby job over here. Well, they did. I am the type of person who can pick up and go anywhere without knowing anyone, no problem. I packed up and arrived here by myself with no one waiting for me, no job, no contract. So bottom line...You have 9.0 saved up at the end of November.
Go to Thailand for 3 months, veg out, and hit Japan before spring?
Stick it out in Korea with my brother here and try some part time work?
Do not pass go, do not collect $200 and go directly to Japan?
Any other thoughts and suggestions, I'm still pretty new to the Eastern world so anyone with some advice who has been there, done that, please help out.
Thanks a ton,
~Kid~

Its all "me me me". Maybe the "sluts" are tired of you, not the other way round?
Its entirely possible to have a good time in Korea. You just have to not be totally out for what you can get the whole time.

Heh, like you care what the lowly working shmucks here might have to say to you. Your post is pure boast & your only evident reason for typing it was to magnify yourself.

I'm impressed. Have I got this right -- a failed hagwon teacher who's gonna strike it rich as a gigolo in Japan. Cant wait for the updates.

Screw that noise. Multi-level marketing and Amway are the secrets to riches in Japan.

This would make a good movie. I'll see if I can spice it up a bit:

You left out the part about dealing with underworld counterfeiters getting your flawless new passport to outwit immigration and maintain two identities--one for Itaewon as a secret agent getting your "brothers" into sensitive positions in the country and one for your mild-mannered teaching persona that you use as a fall-back.

Sorry, just couldn't resist.

To be a gigolo in Japan a British/Australian accent is required. Do you have what it takes? Are you man enough to change the way you speak in order to get a job?

Not many people can do that.
Only real men can do that.

He was a man *beep* like any other, living the high life, and loving the ladees. The yen was, like himself, cold and hard, and the women hot! All was well, until one day he sold his manhood and heart to the wrong geisha! now the Yakuza are hunting him down, and he has only one hope left!! Can he sell his heart as cheap as his body?

This summer KID DIRT finds out in..... LOVE AND DEATH IN TOKYO!!

Laughing

Sorry man, but it writes itself. Go to it!! Write a book so I can read all about it for $1.99 on the airplane on the way home Wink
